[Last Updated 3:15 am Wednesday] South Carolina voters went to the polls on Tuesday to select hundreds of nominees for their Congressional and General Assembly representatives. Every single Statehouse seat (both Senate and House) is on the ballot in November, and many of these seats had primary contests this week. We’ve compiled a complete list of election results for Congressional and Statehouse offices that we will update until returns are final.

Former Columbia City Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine won a January 2024 special election to fill the seat of Senator John Scott, who passed away last year. Devine will face United Citizens Party candidate Chris Nelems in November.

Senator Mia McLeod announced her retirement earlier this year. Ivory Thigpen has served in the SC House since 2016 and Overture Walker on the Richland County Council since 2020. The winner of the runoff in two weeks will face Republican Lee Blatt and Workers Party Gary Votour in November.

Zoe Warren 23.75%

Senator Katrina Shealy has represented Lexington County in the Senate since 2012, when she won a petition campaign against incumbent Jake Knotts. Shealy and Leesville lawyer Carlisle Kennedy will meet in a runoff in two weeks. There is no Democrat running for District 23 in November.

In a significant upset, Representative Russell Ott beat him for the Democratic nomination. Ott served in the SC House since 2013. The winner of the Republican runoff in two weeks will face  Ott in November.

Penry Gustafson 17.92%

Penry Gustafson beat incumbent Democrat Vincent Sheheen in 2020. She did not survive for a sophomore term. Blackmon will face Democrat Yokima Cureton in November.

In a particularly nasty primary election, four-term Senator Sandy Senn loses by 31 votes (out of 7,843 cast) to freshman Representative Matt Leber. Pending a final count, Leber will face Democrat Rita Adkins in November.

Former Representative Deon Tedder won a 2023 special election to fill the Senate seat once held by Marlon Kimpson after Kimpson resigned to accept a position in the Biden administration. There is no Republican candidate for District 42.

House Labor, Commerce, and Industry Chairman Bill Sandifer loses his bid for a 16th term in the House by 59 votes (at this writing). Duncan faces no Democratic opponent in November. A Freedom Caucus pickup.
