Spandana Anchoori, a senior at the University of South Carolina’s Honors College, is an ambitious public health practitioner in the making. Pursuing a B.S. in Public Health with a minor in Neuroscience at the Arnold School of Public Health, she is currently engrossed in her senior thesis exploring the intricate relationship between Global Health and the Global Economy.
Throughout her academic journey in Columbia, SC, Spandana has immersed herself in various public health organizations, gaining invaluable experience across multiple sectors. Her diverse portfolio includes conducting sleep research at a neuroscience laboratory in the University’s School of Medicine, serving as a Maternal and Child Health Intern for the SC Department of Public Health, and working as an aide at New Morning, a local non-profit. She recently returned from a semester in Washington, DC, where she served as a legislative intern for Senator Tim Scott.
Her current research project is aimed at understanding the financial burden of pregnancy on families, which underscores her commitment to understanding health issues from multiple perspectives. Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Spandana’s passion for dance led her to captain her University’s Bollywood-fusion dance team for two years.
As a lifelong resident of South Carolina, she feels a deep connection to her home state and is excited to contribute to Palmetto Promise’s healthcare mission, aiming to enhance the health and well-being of her community.
