REGISTER NOW: SC School Board Candidate and Community Primer
Last year, Palmetto Promise announced our partnership with the John Locke Foundation and the South Carolina Policy Council in the creation of the Carolinas Academic Leadership Network (CALN).
It is the mission of the Carolinas Academic Leadership Network to advance student achievement by helping public school board members hone their leadership skills in governance, professional development, communications, legislative outreach, networking, and policy. Read more about CALN here.
This summer, we are excited to ramp up CALN’s efforts by offering a comprehensive, one-day training for school board candidates and community activists on Saturday, June 22, 2024, 8:45am – 2:30pm in Columbia.
The SC School Board Candidate and Community Primer will feature sessions on…
- Student academic achievement
- Campaign fundraising and branding
- Open records and compliance
- Q&A with an amazing panel of current SC school board members
- An overview of SC education policy, including a recap of the 2023-24 legislative session
- One-on-one expert media training sessions
- And so much more!
School board members, candidates, and all community members are invited! Take advantage of this opportunity to network with fellow candidates and school board members and learn from experts on the state of education in SC and best practices for communication and campaigning.
Whether you are a community member who wants to learn how to make a difference and find out what to look for in a good candidate, or a school board candidate who wants to run an effective campaign and fight for our public schools, this Primer is for you! Everyone has a role in improving education for our kids!
You can find more information on our Facebook event. Please register using this link (also linked in the Facebook event) if you are planning to attend. Once you register, we will reach out with details on venue and what to bring. Registrants will receive a Chick-Fil-A lunch!
