Columbia, S.C.—Today, Palmetto Promise Institute announced the release of the 2015-2016 version of its annual education catalog, Empower Opportunity. Children and families have unique learning needs, and Palmetto Promise promotes customized learning for South Carolina students by supporting all education options.

This user-friendly, family-focused catalog is written to equip South Carolina families with the information they need to understand and access the various forms of education choice that exist in the Palmetto State.  Empower Opportunity: Education Options for South Carolina Families celebrates all high-quality education options—both public and private—and tells the stories of real South Carolina students who are writing their own education success story because of them.

In announcing the launch of the new publication, Palmetto Promise Institute President Ellen Weaver said: “Every child deserves a high-quality education that equips them to reach their full God-given potential. But as a parent, finding the best place for your child can be a daunting – and at times frustrating – task. That’s why we put together Empower Opportunity.”

She continued, “While there is no silver bullet to fix every challenge our schools face, empowering parents to choose what’s best for their child has been proven to deliver results time and again.  We need more options – not fewer – to truly Empower Opportunity for every South Carolina student.”

United States Senator Tim Scott writes in the publication’s foreword: “For me, education is one of our most important manifestations of the American Dream. It is a fundamental force that allows Americans, regardless of background, the ability to improve their lives. It is part of what truly makes this the land of opportunity. I am proud to see South Carolina taking a leading role in doing such amazing things to ensure that every one of our children has the resources necessary to give him or her the very best chance to succeed. My hope is that this guide will be a resource for you as you seek to find the right fit, and to take advantage of all the resources that are available to your student.”

Publication partners include the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina, Magnet Schools of America, Public School Options South Carolina, and CityYear South Carolina.
