Katelyn Bergman

Katelyn Bergman is a senior in the Honors College at the University of South Carolina studying Public Health with minors in Political Science and Business Administration. Her academic and professional interests include public health policy, economic development, and welfare reform. Katelyn has gained policy experience through internships with both the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate. During her internship with the House Committee on Agriculture, she worked on issues related to nutrition policy, SNAP, and cryptocurrency. Katelyn has also served as a Medicaid intern with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and spent a semester in Washington, D.C., as a Public Policy intern with Polsinelli. Katelyn has been awarded fellowships from the American Enterprise Institute and The Fund for American Studies and completed two semesters away in Washington, DC and Florence, Italy. This year, she serves as Director of Government Relations for USC Student Government, where she oversees city, state, and federal advocacy efforts on behalf of more than 30,000 students. Upon graduation, Katelyn hopes to earn a Master of Public Policy before attending law school, ultimately building a career in law, policy, and advocacy at the intersection of health and welfare reform.
