Yesterday was an exciting day as Palmetto Policy joined with partners from around the state to launch our new education options resource catalogue for SC parents.

Empowering Students celebrates the many forms of education choice in South Carolina and highlights real Palmetto State families that are happily using each of these options.  We also provide an easy “one-stop-shop” of resource links for parents to learn more about each of these choices that we hope will be a help for families as they seek to make the best decision for their family.

But we need your help.  Please take a minute to enjoy these inspiring stories, and most importantly, help us SHARE it via email and social media with your friends and family. Empowering Students will only be as effective as the number of South Carolina parents who read it!

WHAT SOUTH CAROLINA LEADERS ARE SAYING

Governor Nikki Haley’s office released a statement that highlighted her unique perspective in support of the new resource: “As a mother, I know firsthand that no two children are the same or learn in the same way,” Haley said. “That’s why as Governor, I am proud to see more and more school options for children in South Carolina.

State Superintendent of Education Dr. Mick Zais, who joined the launch in Cayce and North Charleston, focused on the new world of education. “A traditional model puts every child in the same classroom and expects them to learn the same material, pretty much in the same way on the same schedule, should we be surprised that doesn’t work for many students and many families,” Zais said.
