Honoring a Champion of Free Enterprise
Palmetto Promise has been a stalwart defender of free enterprise here in South Carolina, and this week, we had the privilege of recognizing a dedicated public servant and Champion of Free Enterprise at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion.
The Honorable Terry Branstad served as Ambassador to China in the Trump Administration from 2017-2020. Before that, he served as Governor of Iowa and holds the record for the longest-serving Governor in American history, with twenty-two years leading the Hawkeye State to be the economic and agricultural powerhouse it is today. Ambassador Branstad now serves President of the World Food Prize, which works to support innovation in food security and global agriculture, and he is the founder and honorary chairman of the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, a free market alternative to the Chamber of Commerce.
We were so honored to have Ambassador Branstad speak with our distinguished guests and be able to celebrate his inspirational leadership.
For his relentless defense of free market principles throughout his illustrious career, Palmetto Promise was proud to recognize Ambassador Branstad as a Champion of Free Enterprise.
Thank you to Governor McMaster and the First Lady (and Mac the bulldog!) for opening up their beautiful home to us—we thought it was only fitting to honor America’s longest serving Governor alongside Governor McMaster, who will, at the end of his term, be the longest serving South Carolina Governor.
Additionally, thank you to Palmetto Promise Board member Van Hipp for making this exclusive event possible, and thank you to all the guests who joined us.
Our team left the Governor’s Mansion energized in our fight for free market economics, and we are so grateful for the example and leadership of Ambassador Terry Branstad.
