South Carolina Primary Runoff Election Results 2020

South Carolina voters went to the polls on Tuesday to decide 11 primaries in runoffs that were forced due to the failure of any candidate to receive 50% +1 vote in the initial primary election held on June 8th.

SC SENATE DISTRICT 16

Michael Johnson 54.81%  X
Tom Nichols 45.19%
Lancaster & York Counties

Michael Johnson will face Ramin Mammadov in November for the seat vacated (again) by Greg Gregory. (Gregory retired from the Senate briefly and turned the seat over to Mick Mulvaney but returned to the Senate when Mulvaney was elected to Congress.)

Horry County

Luke Rankin survives in a campaign only possible in Horry County. Tim Scott was kingmaker with a late endorsement of Rankin. No Democrat has filed.

Berkeley, Calhoun, Colleton, Dorchester & Orangeburg Counties

Vernon Stephens will face Tom Connor (R) in November for the seat of retiring Senator John Matthews (elected 1984).
