Over the last few weeks, Palmetto Promise has been hosting a little bracket competition of our own.

And no, I’m not talking about the office March Madness pool that Dr. Oran Smith unfortunately won…

We’ve been asking our readers to vote for the items on our Palmetto Freedom Agenda they feel are most important to the state of South Carolina and should be prioritized by legislators this year.

It has been a long fight, but we are finally down to our championship round.

UNIVERSAL ESAs

After the SC Supreme Court ruled the state’s initial school choice program unconstitutional, we are on a mission to restore school choice in our state and ensure every child has access to the education option of their choice. A bill to restore school choice has passed the Senate and the House, and we await the result of negotiations between the two chambers on the final details. Learn more.

LOWER ELECTRICITY BILLS, MORE CAPACITY

South Carolina’s energy market is uncompetitive, expensive, and full of monopoly utilities. We need to encourage innovation and energy production, all while ensuring costs are not passed on to ratepayers, who already have some of the highest energy bills in the nation. The South Carolina Senate recently passed a bill majorly overhauling energy policy, and the bill is likely headed to conference committee. Learn more.
